Collections and Exhibitions

Curatorial Assistant and Rotation Coordinator

The Museum is seeking a Curatorial Assistant and Rotation Coordinator to work on curatorial and managerial aspects of the rotation of the Core Exhibition. Responsibilities include coordinating the rotation team of curators, registrars, fabricators, and lighting designers to assure that the work moves forward smoothly; selecting and suggesting artifacts and other materials appropriate to the themes of Core Exhibition cases; creating database records for incoming artifacts and loans; and participating in clean-up of existing database records.

Candidates must have a Bachelor’s degree in History or a related field; a background working with objects of material culture; knowledge of modern Jewish history, Judaism, or World War II and Holocaust history; be detail-

oriented. Knowledge of foreign languages a plus.

Education

Manager of Education Services

The Museum is seeking to hire an experienced education professional to lead the delivery of educational services to students, educators, and other Museum constituents.  Responsibilities will include serving as the primary Museum liaison to area schools and teachers and fostering relationships with them; developing and managing a range of professional development opportunities to be offered by the Museum to educators; management of the Speaker’s Bureau; oversight of the Museum Resource Center for teachers; evaluating and reporting on programs; and budget preparation and monitoring for relevant programs.

Candidates should have a BA in Jewish studies, History, Education, or related field (MA preferred); at least 5 years’ education-related experience, including significant classroom teaching and professional development; computer proficiency; excellent oral and written communication, organization, and interpersonal skills; and ability to multitask and see projects through to completion.

 

Finance and Administration

Budget and Finance Analyst

The Museum is seeking to hire a Budget and Finance Analyst. In this role you will adminster and coordinate all aspects of preparation and ongoing management of Museum's yearly budget. You will also coordinate all grants and contracts including reviews, analysis, forcasting, reporting, and preparation of various revenue/expense and actual/budget reports for internal and external reviews. You will work closely with the Development department in connection with pledges. In addition, you will process daily deposits, assist with the month end closing, and prepare financial reports.

Candidates must have BA/BS degree with 3 to 4 years of non-profit experience specifically with budgets and knowledge of MS Office and Blackbaud products. Candidates should have solid organizational skills; attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; customer service orientation and diplomatic demeanor.

Public Programs

Public Programs Coordinator

The Museum is seeking to hire a dedicated, well-organized and creative individual to participate in the development of adult public programs at the Museum, including assisting in content development and implementation of public programs, performing outreach for book-related programming, writing advertisements and other promotional materials and coordinating their completion, participation in marketing of programs, coordination of all logistics for performers, processing all required forms, executing necessary correspondence, maintaining computer and paper records associated with public programs and representing Museum at events.

Candidates must have: BA in relevant field; computer proficiency (Microsoft Windows and database management); excellent oral and written communication skills; and interest in programming and professional experience with event production and/or museum public programs (preferred). Must be willing to work weeknight evenings and approximately 2 Sundays per month.

Visitor Services

Assistant Visitor Services Manager

The Museum is seeking a genial and responsible customer service professional to assist in the management of the Museum’s Visitor Services function and ensure that Museum patrons receive consistently outstanding customer service.  Responsibilities will include:  creating monthly schedule for Visitor Service employees and making modifications as needed, ensuring adequate staffing for all shifts; participation in training and guidance of employees in customer service techniques and updating of department policies and practices; ensuring staff’s compliance with policies and practices and intervening as necessary; intervention and resolution of difficult visitor issues; acting in role of VS Manager in her/his absence and keeping VS Manager abreast of all relevant issues and developments; and providing support to the VS Manager in oversight of ticket sales and daily receipts,  Museum visitation, and trend records and reports, and all other department functions. Candidates must have:  BA/BS; 2-3 years’ customer service and/or museum experience; ability to train and supervise employees; superior computer skills (familiarity with VISTA and/or TicketWeb preferred); excellent communication skills; knowledge of optimal customer service practices; and ability to be an articulate and respectful representative of Museum with patrons.
